Thursday, April 27, 2017 - 19:00 to 21:00

Finn-Guild is hosting free briefing sessions to its members and other Finns on residency rights after Brexit. Jamie Kerr, an immigration law specialist from Thorntons will give a briefing on the possible residency implications from the triggering of Article 50 and Brexit might have on Finnish nationals living in Scotland. He will indicate what actions, if any, Finns might wish to consider taking at this time.

Whilst so much still requires to be clarified, Jamie will look at some of the possible consequences for Finns living and working in Scotland and will cover, for example, the practicalities of registration and the options available around applying for permanent residence documentation. Following Jamie’s presentation, there will be plenty of opportunity for questions and answers.

Events are free but booking is required using the links below.

Jamie is married to a Finnish national and has two Scottish-Finnish children. He heads up the Immigration Law team at Thorntons and is one of only a few solicitors accredited as a specialist in immigration law by the Law Society of Scotland.  He is widely recognised as an immigration expert and has worked solely in the field of immigration and nationality law for over a decade. He is Convener of the Immigration Law Practitioners' Association’s Scottish Regional Working Group and sits on the Immigration and Asylum Committee of the Law Society of Scotland. He tutors human rights law at the University of Glasgow and is an ad hoc lecturer on immigration law at various universities around the world. Jamie also sits on the Constitutional Law Committee of the Law Society of Scotland, is on Board of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) in Scotland and sits on the Scottish Government’s Strategic Labour Market Review Group.
